Troy Townsend MBE is a British anti-racism advocate, broadcaster, and former footballer, renowned for his extensive work in promoting diversity and inclusion within football.
Throughout his tenure at Kick it out, he was instrumental in developing initiatives aimed at combating racism and promoting equality within the sport. His efforts included engaging with players, clubs, and communities to foster a more inclusive environment. His contributions to the fight against discrimination in football have been widely recognised. In 2013, he received the Football Association's Grassroot Hero Award for his dedication to anti-racism efforts. In the 2024 New Year Honours, he was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to diversity and inclusion in association football.
Beyond his role at Kick It Out, Troy has actively participated in community programs aimed at empowering young people. For instance, he joined the PlayMakers programme with the Palace for Life Foundation, where he utilised his skills and experience to improve the lives of young people in south London through activities such as delivering presentations in schools, providing work experience opportunities, and mentoring.
